This week saw the introduction of the new Right-To-Rent legislation, and has significant implications for all Landlords across the UK. But if you're one of our managed clients, don't worry - we've got it covered!
Brought in to help identify and reduce the number of tenants living in the UK illegally, the checks require Landlords to check in person, documentation to show the tenant has the right to live in the UK. This essentially means anyone in the EU/EEA, and those with relevant visas. Anyone found renting to someone who doesn't have the correct documentation can face fines of up to £3,000.
However we're working closely internally, and externally with Homelet (our preferred partner referencing agency) to ensure that this documentation is processed efficiently, and at no extra cost to those landlords where we provide a fully-managed or let-only service.
