Last weekend saw the annual Dragonboat Festival in St Neots - drawing thousands of people to the Town. At Lovetts we're big fans of local events in the community, so thought "why not enter this year"?! So we did.....and what a super day it was!
With 18 charity boats competing for the prestigious prize, it was a full day of racing, along with plenty of stalls, live music, dancing and food for all. Despite moody skies, the rain held off for most of the day, and saw a great turnout - which made it even more daunting when sat on the start line of the first race!
Nevertheless our competitive spirit came out and we gave each race absolutely everything! With plenty more experience and muscle in most of the other crews, we certainly didn't worry the leaderboard - but we didn't care (much). For us it was all about doing something a bit different, being out of our comfort zones, and just getting stuck in!
If you haven't already done so, it really is worth checking out St Neots Dragonboat Club. You couldn't meet a more welcoming bunch! They have made the sport completely inclusive - regardless of age, gender or ability, everyone can have a go and see if they like it. Not only is it good exercise, they a tremendous social scene going on too. If you're new to the area, its a great way to meet people. For more info, click here http://www.stneotsdbt.co.uk/
