Our Top 5 Local Spots for Summertime Drinks!

Thu 20 Aug 2015

There’s nothing better than a sunny day spent in a beer garden. From classic pub lawns to riverside terraces, here’s our staff’s pick of our favourite local summertime suntraps!

1.       The Rivermill Tavern, Eaton Socon

Located right on the River Great Ouse with plenty of seating by the water or on the terrace, the Rivermill is a real local institution. With a fantastic array of beers on tap from far and wide, there's something for everyone.  With good food to boot, it ticks all the boxes on a summers’ day!

2.       The Waterfront Bar, Wyboston Lakes

Often mistaken as solely being a golf course clubhouse, the location of the Waterfront is stunning on a summers day. Overlooking extensive lakes and lush green vegetation, it really is the perfect place to go and relax with a cold glass of wine and some excellent contemporary food in the bar or adjoining brasserie.

3.       Bridge House, St Neots

Overlooking the River Great Ouse, the 16th Century former property of the Earl of Sandwich is located slap bang in the middle of St Neots, just a short crawl from our offices on the Market Square (convenient…).

When the sun is blazing, the waterside terrace will offer excellent views of passing riverboats and rowers. The only negative is that it’s just way too tempting to go in for a dip yourself!

4.       Black Bull, Brampton

If it’s a nice outdoor space you’re after, you’ve come to the right place here! With huge rear gardens, the Black Bull is a delight for families.

If, like us you’re into you’re ales, then you’ll find a good selection on offer here, along with locally sourced food and even doggie-treats for your pup!

5.       The Bell, Great Paxton

When it comes to solid all-rounders, The Bell ticks all the boxes. Big rear garden, quiz nights, community events, live music, dog friendly – this freehouse has the lot. There’s even outdoor play equipment for the younger patrons!

Since being taken over by a local family, The Bell has maintained a superb community atmosphere that makes for a friendly welcome for all.
