Why Move to Great Paxton?

Set amid rolling Cambridgeshire countryside, and on the banks of the River Ouse, Gt Paxton is a charming village with a real community feel. With the key staples of a village pub, school, and church, Gt Paxton proves a popular location with many people.

Out and About

As a resident of Great Paxton, the local offering is rather good for a village of its size. With numerous local societies and clubs, there is always something going, from quiz nights and festivals, to crib and am-dram classes (in nearby Offord).

Great Paxton also has amateur football and petanque teams, playing in local leagues.

With the village being on the fringe of St Neots and close to Huntingdon, there is plenty on offer for residents.

Transport Links

Only a few miles from the A1, the offering for those with cars is great. Both London and Birmingham are just an hour drive away; whilst Cambridge, Bedford, Milton Keynes and Peterborough are under a 30 minute drive.

The nearest train station is St Neots, about 2 miles away. This is on the London-Edinburgh East Coast Mainline. For commuters to London, this provides 4 trains an hour, which take 40 minutes during morning and evening rush hour (53mins at other times).

There are plenty of local and regional bus services in operation from nearby St Neots, the most popular being the X5, which runs through the town, and operates a route between Cambridge and Oxford. A local bus service runs between St Neots and Huntingdon.

The nearest airports are London Luton and London Stansted, both a 40 minute drive. Birmingham and East Midlands airports can also be reached in just over an hour.

Property

The market for sale homes in Great Paxton has historically been buoyant – and with any small village where stock is in short supply, this remains so. With the train station just 2 miles away it offers a well-priced option for commuters, with a great mix of traditional family homes in a wide range of styles.

With many people settling into the village long-term, there doesn’t tend to be quite the level of rental stock available as St Neots – as such those that come onto the market are snapped up quickly.

"We chose Lovetts as our agent as their charges were by far the most competitive and we had positive experience of their professionalism handling our lettings properties. We were not disappointed. The marketing of the property was efficiently and sensitively handled. Lovetts were proactive in contacting potential purchasers and finally bringing the sale to a satisfactory conclusion. Throughout the process, Lovetts kept the momentum going and responded promptly to queries. In my view, they certainly earned their fee. I would not hesitate to engage their services in the future"
